Common Place: A Refugee Program

Common Place: A Refugee Program

Mission Statement

We exist is to give everyone in Denver access to a restored life.

We are a program in Denver serving refugees, immigrants, and foreign-born friends. Formerly The Lovewell Center Denver, Common Place is a program of CO/LAB. CO/LAB, a collective of compassion and justice nonprofits in Denver, is a Send Relief Ministry Center.

COMMON PLACE: We exist is to give everyone in Denver access to a restored life.

EVERYONE When we say everyone, we mean everyone. It’s you, it’s me, it’s refugees. We believe in mutuality, never an “us” and “them.” While our focus is refugees, we try and fill needs for immigrant friends and those experiencing poverty.

ACCESS We provide access to resources and relationships, which we believe pave the way for restoration. Resources like culturally appropriate pantry staples and necessary clothing. We build relationships organically through ESL Chat Clubs and hosting community-wide events where our refugee friends live. Our mobile shop helps alleviate the burden of transportation which provides greater access to things refugees need the most.

RESTORED LIFE When people have what they need and know that others are right beside them, they can stare down the road of restoration with confidence and hope. And when restoration happens, our neighborhoods and our city gets transformed.

PARTNERSHIPS & REFERRALS We don’t do this work alone. We continue to build strong partnerships across the city with refugee re-settlement agencies, Denver Public Schools, community resource partners, referral organizations, faith centers, and more.

Come serve with us at a Community Meal, become an Ally in our Common Youth program, host a resource drive, or join an ESL Chat Club. Welcome to Common Place, we're excited for you to pull up a seat.
